Have you ever heard that barnyard fowls are the gateway drug to farming?
At least, that's how it was for me.
When my desires of farming were first forming, it felt like the natural way to start-- A few chickens. You know, just enough to obtain a few eggs. Absolutely nothing crazy. Not like twenty-something chickens.
Oh, whoops. I think that's where we finished, huh? Allow me to count the ways and elaborate exactly WHY we got to this point.
First things first-- Simon adores his poultries because they are uncomplicated. They demand the basics: Food, water, shelter-- and these could be as uncomplicated or extravagant as you opt for them to be. We used a mobile shelter, which meets each of our needs-- a mesh flooring to ensure droppings may befall, shelter from the elements, and manageable mobility for us to move it all around the pasture.
