Have you ever knew that barnyard fowls are the gateway drug to farming?
At least, that's how it was for me.
When my goals of farming were first forming, it appeared like the natural way to start off-- A few chickens. You know, just enough to acquire a few eggs. Absolutely nothing crazy. Not like twenty-something chickens.
Oh, whoops. I suppose that's where we ended up, huh? Let me to count the techniques and specify exactly WHY we got to this point.
First things first-- Simon appreciates his hens because they are manageable. They necessitate the basics: Food, water, shelter-- and these could be as easy or extravagant as you opt for them to be. We used a mobile shelter, which meets most of our needs-- a mesh flooring so that droppings may befall, shelter from the elements, and convenient mobility for us to move it all around the pasture.
